There is a theory which states that if ever anyone discovers exactly what the Universe is for and why it is here, it will instantly disappear and be replaced by something even more bizarre and inexplicable. There is another theory which states that this has already happened. ~~~ Douglas Adams

Faith vs Belief

To me "faith" is a reasonable expectation of something based on it's previous demonstrated behavior. For instance. I have "faith" that when i go to the store they will have diet Canada Dry ginger ale in stock. On the other hand accepting into your reality something that does against logic, reason and physics, THAT is a "belief". The subjective assessment of uncertainty. For instance i may believe it to be a certainty that if i run really fast that i would be able to run through a brick wall. That does not make it true however. Again using the same analogy i have faith that if i run into a brick wall that i will slam against it very hard and hurt myself *LOL*.

I think differentiating between the two is important when talking about religious theology. Because a persons religous belifs are just that, their own beliefs. There may be many people who share in the same belief but does not make one belief any more or less real or valid than the next person with their own beliefs. Each "believes" a certain thing and each "believes" that certain thing to be correct over everything else. They can't ALL be the only right way.

Now i said that to say this *LOL* ... To me a persons religious beliefs have nothing to do with real spiritual development. A belief just dictates the way you act and think. Real spiritual development purifies the body, mind and soul and is beneficial to every living thing. Religious beliefs are based on outer influences ad experiences. Spirituality comes from within. Some religions try to confuse this by saying you have to ask a deity into your heart to forgive you. But they are still separate things. Belief is the result of how your mind processes information and experiences and spirituality is the internal process of one nourishing their own soul. Make sense? I hope so coz that was a lot of typing *LOL*.

Anyway that's my broken down view of belief vs faith ... not that anyone asked for it hehe :-P

Where's Howard Beale when you need him?

I was just reading that in the mid 60's an hour long tv show, if you take out the commercials, was 51 minutes long. That's of actual tv show time. As of 2007 an hour long show minus commercials is only 42 minutes long. Nine extra minutes of advertising. Advertising is a networks bread n butter. Ad space on a popular show goes for anywhere from the hundreds of thousands of dollars for 30 seconds to up into the millions for a prime spot in something like the super bowl. Now given those kinds of numbers it seems that either the networks have gotten that much more greedier, or the productions costs (actors, cameramen, stage hands etc) have skyrocketed. I thinks maybe it's a little of both.

I think it's just more 'conditioning' to make people into better little consumers. Dumb tv down to the point you don't even have to think so you become nice and vegetative then bombard you with all that 'buy this, buy that. you can't live without this gadget' advertising. Now mind you i'm all for some mindless entertainment but there is a gar disproportionate percentage of cerebral programming to mindless entertainment shows. Which is sad because these days people get most alll of their information on the tv. If it wasn't on the tv it didn't happen. Right? It's sad but who actually reads anymore? Not many. I just miss the good ole days. When people were "smarter" *LOL*

How Exciting!

So i've been hearing the last few days about something new in Google's future that sounds VERY exciting. Google Me. Another 'social networking' implementation by Google. They are supposed to be devoting much more resources to this than to it's social networking en devours in the past. That have all of the makings of a GREAT social networking machine such as Buzz and google profiles and wave etc. Now if they can make them all work together i think it could be HUGE and give facebook a run for it's money! I'm very excited about this and will be paying close attention to it's progress...

Oops...How did that get there?

Oh look. I seem to have stolen a copyrighted government graphic...OOOPS! haha...
